Support for subprojects

Within Richer water and landscape can you apply for support to implement sub-projects such as contributes to ecological sustainability and sustainable transition at the local level. A sub-project is a smaller investment that means simpler administration and faster decisions compared to running a regular leader project.

What can you search for?

Public benefit initiatives that contribute to one or more of the following goals: new networks or collaborations, new visitors, shorter food chains, reduced climate impact, new services, new solutions to environmental and climate problems. The main benefit of the sub-project will accrue to Upplandsbygd geographical area.

For example, investments such as:

  • Strengthens outdoor activities and makes nature more accessible to different groups.
  • Contribute to biodiversity in a location by, for example, maintaining a meadow, building insect hotels/birdhouses, or creating small biotopes/small water environments.
  • Contributes to local food supply and cultivation (together) of vegetables, root vegetables, fruit and berries.
  • Spreads knowledge about, for example, nature conservation management measures, sustainable use of land and water, reduced climate impact, renewable energy, or local food.
  • Creates meetings and develops collaborations.

Who can apply?

Organizations, such as companies and associations. You need to collaborate with at least one other organization in a different sector (association, company or public).

Biodiversity at Öregrund golf course

The goal of the project is to secure access to nesting sites for pollinating insects that build their nests in sand, and to ensure access to food for the insects. Öregrunds golf club therefore wants to create a flower meadow and sand beds for the insects, and have information dissemination efforts for visitors and members.

Scythe party at Spökbacken, Söderön

Söderön's local history association is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and is now planning a festive and educational mowing festival! During the day, visitors will be able to try out scythe mowing, see mowing with workhorses, join guided nature tours and build insect hotels. Older tools and implements will also be on display, to increase understanding of what historical mowing looked like.

Discovery trail in Skyttorp

Skyttorp Forest Garden wants to increase people's contact with and time spent in nature, and therefore they now want to build a discovery trail. The goal is a trail that combines aesthetics, playfulness and nature conservation where both people and species thrive. Through workshops, information signs and creative activities, the place will become a destination that strengthens both the environment and the community in Skyttorp

Mapping small-scale growers' resource needs and collaboration

The project maps small-scale farmers in Vallentuna with a focus on their resources, needs and challenges. This is to promote collaboration, resource sharing and more resilient local food production, when shareable resources are made visible and actors become aware of various collaboration opportunities.

Inspiration Day More Local Food and Biodiversity

An inspirational day with a focus on sustainable food production and biodiversity, with hands-on activities and meetings with local producers. The hope is that the day will result in more inspired participants, who can form the basis for a long-term commitment to local sustainable food production, nature, animals and biodiversity.

From waste to resource – chipping in Skyttorp

With this project, the Skyttorps skogsträdgård association wants to reduce climate impact by utilizing rice and branches from gardens in the village, instead of burning them or taking them to the recycling center. By chipping the material locally, the carbon can be stored longer in the chips, while at the same time becoming a valuable resource for cultivation.

The future compass outdoors

Eighth graders in Östhammar municipality are exploring outdoor life, biodiversity and sustainability through hands-on learning in nature, thanks to a collaboration between the municipality and the Upplandsstiftelsen. The project invites students to experience-based learning, where they learn about ecosystem services, species knowledge and participate in practical activities that strengthen natural values.

From ear of corn to loaf – a food preparedness project in Hagunda Red Cross group

Uppsala Red Cross Society is starting an initiative in Hagunda to spark interest in the old craft of baking in bakers' cottages, while strengthening common preparedness. By spreading knowledge about baking without electricity, cultural grains and local food production, the project wants to connect tradition, sustainability and community across generations.

Grow in your garden – food preparation in Hagundabygden

Uppsala Red Cross Society is implementing an initiative in Hagunda to strengthen local food security through small-scale farming close to home. By spreading knowledge about how to grow and use fruit, berries and vegetables, the project wants to inspire more people to grow their own, preserve farming traditions and increase self-sufficiency in the countryside.

Märsta Ridklubb wants to install an energy-efficient air source heat pump in its facility. The aim is to reduce climate impact, lower energy costs and create a warm and welcoming environment for children and young people all year round.

Make the Food and Flavors Association visible

The Food and Flavors Association in Northern Stockholm wants to make local food more accessible. Through a new website, small-scale producers will be made more visible, the distance to the consumer will be reduced and sustainable local food production will be strengthened.

Organic farming for inclusion

A farming project is being started in Uppsala where people with and without functional variations grow organic vegetables together. The aim is to create an inclusive meeting place and increase access to local, nutritious and sustainably produced food.

In a new project from Charlottenlund's trading post, new meeting places are being created in and around Knivsta to promote local, small-scale food production and its importance for sustainability, community and biodiversity.
