Measures to increase attractiveness on hiking trails 

The purpose of the project is to increase the experience value of the trails around Österbybruk, Östhammar. More visitors will have the chance to discover and appreciate the trails, which in turn will give back to the region and its tourism industry. In the long term, the project will contribute to positive social development. 

One goal of the project is to get feedback from 100 trail visitors. The measurement will be done by installing visitor meters and through fillable questionnaires. The measurement will be done continuously, as a new measurement will be done next year in order to compare the number of visitors, among other things. The measurement will take place on two of the trails – around Stordammen runt and Kulturstigen.

The project will also contribute to:

• Improved navigation. 

• Signs with local information about nature and cultural heritage. 

• Purchase of equipment to improve the maintenance of the trails. 

The Nature and Culture Association in Dannemorabygden has several collaborations, partly with local entrepreneurs who benefit from the strengthening of the tourism industry. with archaeologists from Upplandsmuseet to lift cultural relics in connection with the trails. Another collaboration is taking place with The Österbybruk Manor Foundation helps to produce the signs along the trail. Finally, they also have a collaboration with Simbadets Camping which helps with evaluate the visitor experience and with the set of signs.
