Biodiversity at Öregrund golf course

Öregrunds Golf Club wants to strengthen its work for biodiversity. They have previously set up around 50 birdhouses, created insect hotels and worked on water purification, and now they will focus on increasing the number of pollinating insects in the surrounding area.

The goal of the project is to ensure that there are habitats for pollinating insects that build their nests in sand, and to secure access to food for the insects. Öregrunds golf club therefore wants to create a flower meadow and sand beds for the insects, and have information dissemination efforts for visitors and members. This is a kind of pilot project, so that employees and volunteers can learn more about nature and environmental conservation in practice. However, others will also benefit, such as the club's members and visiting school classes. Information about the project will be spread on social media, in the clubhouse and on the course, and the hopes are to inspire and arouse interest among visitors. 

At the end of the project, the aim is to arrange a joint mowing of the flower meadow where guests can share in what has been done, an activity that also promotes social cohesion.
