Organic farming for inclusion

The aim of the project is to create an inclusive meeting place in Uppsala where people with and without functional variations participate together in organic vegetable growing. Through joint work days, both social interaction and increased access to local, nutritious food are promoted, especially for groups that otherwise have limited opportunities for this. 

The project builds on a completed pilot study around a common chicken coop. The idea is that in the future the farms can use the chicken manure that will be produced, but in the meantime horse manure from the neighbor's horses is used. The goal of the project is to establish an initial cultivation area and create a network between participants, experts in organic farming and associations that work with functional variations.

The activities include planning meetings, study trips and joint work days as well as harvesting and evaluation. The project is carried out in collaboration with experts in biodynamic farming and the Swedish Association Grunden. 

The project creates meaningful employment and contributes to increased organic farming. The experiences are documented and shared, in order to inspire more similar initiatives in other locations.
