processing apples into cider

The project is part of the umbrella project Rural development.

Hagha local association wants to spread knowledge about cider making. By spreading knowledge about how to process apples, the association wants to create new networks and increase interest in local food production.

About the project

Hagha local community wants to develop and spread knowledge about cider making. To take advantage of the local apple harvest and contribute to a local apple orchard, where a unique species bank can have the opportunity to continue to live. They also want to engage new target groups through the project, such as younger people in the local community.

The project will contribute with lessons about which apples are suitable to use and how to take care of the apple trees in the best way. By ensuring that the apple groves are maintained, it will in the long term contribute to the continued existence of insects and pollinators, which will increase resilience and ecological sustainability. As well as contributing to increased resource efficiency through reduced apple waste.

Through the project, they hope to establish a new network for people interested in cider making through activities such as study visits, training and lectures.
