Shared, handicap-accessible chicken coop

The project is part of the umbrella project Natural values in Upplandsbygd

The project aims to preserve endangered Swedish chicken breeds while offering meaningful activities for adults with various functional variations. By organizing a team of approximately 20 people who take turns caring for the chickens according to a schedule, the participants are offered an opportunity to feel a sense of responsibility and belonging. The project focuses on building knowledge and self-confidence in the participants.

To implement the project, it is planned to complete drawings for the chicken coop with the help of an architect, obtain cost estimates for the construction, compile information from chicken experts about suitable breeds and care, and establish collaborations with organizations for the preservation of chicken breeds. In addition, the team will be assembled and a waiting list will be established to organize participation. Through these measures, the project strives to both promote the preservation of Swedish chicken breeds and offer meaningful and inclusive activities for people with functional variations.
