Seek support for projects
Is it time to formulate an application? Great! Then you've come to the right place.
Application step by step
Always start by sending us a conceptual sketch at the office. The formal application is then made in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's system. Here we go through the process step by step.
Good to know
- Associations, companies and organizations can apply for support for projects. However, private individuals cannot.
- The size of the support in relation to the budget and the type of co-financing depend on, among other things, how public the project is. Ask us!
1: Does the project idea fit into our strategy?
To receive support from Upplandsbygd, your project idea must be in line with our strategy and fit within one of our three focus areas presented below..
Don't forget to look at the selection criteria for the focus area you plan to apply for support in and think about how your project idea can contribute to the focus area.
Area of operation
Local economy and sustainable entrepreneurship
Projects that deal with, for example, support for entrepreneurs in companies and associations, business development for entrepreneurs, skills development and networking.
Area of operation
Promoting rural development and strengthening community
Initiatives that strengthen the local community and participation in the development of the region – for everyone regardless of background.
Area of operation
Richer water and landscape
Projects such as makes use of unused resources, contributes to a rich flora and fauna, reduces climate impact and creates new business opportunities around the sustainable use of our natural resources.
Prepare for a project
Pilot study
Sometimes a feasibility study may be needed before a larger initiative. This may involve anchoring the idea in order to find partners, more financiers or to build up a factual basis for the project activities. In such cases, it is possible to seek support for a feasibility study.
Maximum amount: SEK 500,000
Maximum implementation time: 18 months
Support level
How much can you apply for?
A leader project requires some administration. We therefore do not recommend that you apply less than SEK 100,000. There is no general ceiling on how much you can apply for.
Two exceptions:
- For feasibility studies, the maximum amount is SEK 500,000.
- For project support to companies, the maximum amount is SEK 200,000. "Project support to companies" applies if the project mainly benefits one or a few companies.
2: Apply for a power of attorney from the Swedish Board of Agriculture
If the applicant for the project is an association, limited liability company or partnership, you need a power of attorney to be able to make an application. Sole proprietorships do not require a power of attorney. Send your application for a power of attorney to the address stated on the form. It takes a few days to receive the power of attorney.
3: Write your application in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's system
Once the power of attorney is in place, it is time to start the application in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service.
Find the right e-service
Go into www.jordbruksverket.se and Log in to My Pages with Bank-ID. Select the organization you will represent and write your application. Please note that you should only select "Myself" if you are a company. If you don't see the organization you represent, the authorization hasn't yet been successful.
To make your application complete, you need to attach:
- An activity plan that describes which activities you will carry out in the project.
- A budget template. Also attach comparative quotes and other cost documents that verify the budget items. Remember to make sustainable purchases of goods and services! Use the second-hand market when possible and follow our meeting and travel policy.
- A certificate of liquidity showing that your organization has sufficient finances to carry out the initiative, such as a bank statement, balance sheet or loan promise. This is needed because the support will only be paid out once you have incurred the costs.
Notify us when you have submitted your application.
Send an email to kansli@upplandsbygd.se with your journal number after you have pressed the "Review and submit" button.
Responsible use of AI
We do not prohibit you from using generative AI when developing or writing your concept note or application for project support. You also do not need to state whether you have used generative AI. However, you do need to be vigilant. Generative AI can ”hallucinate”, that is, invent facts that are not true and references that do not exist. AI also tends to reproduce various forms of prejudice and bias, for example regarding sex and gender. As an applicant, you are responsible for ensuring that all content in your application is correct.
4: Processing and decisions
Once the application has been received at our office, we will process it. We process applications on an ongoing basis. We will give you feedback and let you know if you need to add or clarify anything. You can change your application even after it has been submitted.
When your application is complete, a small group of board members (review committee) will review it and make suggestions for improvements. After adjustments, the application will be presented for decision at a board meeting.
If the board decides to approve your application, the Swedish Board of Agriculture will formally approve the project. The application may need to be supplemented during the Board of Agriculture's processing. It takes several months to receive a formal decision from the Board of Agriculture. If you choose to start the project before the Board of Agriculture has made its decision, you do so at your own risk.
