Make use of the farm's fruits and berries
The project is part of the umbrella project Shorter food chains
Project leader Lena Engen wants to make use of the farm's fruits and berries and let them become part of a local cycle in Vallentuna.
About the project
A central part of the project is to pick, refine, and resell products such as currants, gooseberries, apples, sloe berries, rhubarb, and blueberry honey, thereby reducing waste and simultaneously creating new opportunities for local sales.
An additional goal is to build collaborations with local producers and suppliers, so that the raw materials can be refined and resold at markets, in farm shops, and through other local channels. In this way, Lena wants to strengthen both the industry and the contact between different actors in the area. The project also includes creating a contingency stock on the farm, which contributes to increased security and better management of resources.
Lena hopes that the project will eventually contribute to a stronger local food supply, more collaborations between producers, and a better use of the farm's own resources. By utilizing what already exists and allowing more people to be part of the process, both added value and long-term sustainability are created.
