About the project
The project was part of the umbrella project The Builders
Anna and her company "Annas örter" planted and now run a vegetable garden at Almunge School. This in collaboration with both students and teachers but also with nearby growers and farmers.
Many children do not know where the vegetables they eat come from, how they grow or how to take care of their crops. The students get to collaborate in different subjects to build the school garden. They get to build grow boxes, insect nests and compost. They learn about the cycle and what the crops need during different stages. They grow, replant, water, fertilize and harvest. In woodworking, the students help build grow boxes and doors for the crops. In home economics, they learn how to take care of the vegetables and cook them.
”Teaching children about farming, not just in a small context but how everything in nature is connected, is something I am passionate about. With my company Anna's herbs I want to build something that can hopefully be both useful and enjoyable for the students at the school for many years to come.”.
