The town in Östhammar municipality has a very nice and centrally located square, Rådhustorget, surrounded by beautiful buildings. Despite its beauty, it lacks any soul. It is popularly considered to be stone dead.
About the project
The project was part of the umbrella project The Builders
This project aims to breathe life into the square. Make an adaptation for the future. Build a pleasant gathering place where you can have coffee and socialize. We want the square to develop into a magnet that increases the municipality's attractiveness and in the long term leads to fewer trips to the big city of Uppsala.
The idea is to put up a tarpaulin over part of the square and plant 2 trees. Both of these measures will create shade, making the square suitable for a restaurant, café and other retail activities.
Through relatively small efforts, we are making a profound positive change that brings life to the currently dead square.
