Källör city meadow and pollinator park

In the Källör area in central Östhammar, Östhammar Municipality has initiated several measures to promote biodiversity in the form of what they call a pollinator park on a meadow in Östhammar. The project's measures aim to enhance the experience and attractiveness along a well-known promenade along the water in Östhammar. By letting the grass grow high on the green area, sowing meadow flowers, installing birdhouses and signage in combination with other activities taking place on site, such as the annual hay festival, the opportunity is opened for the public, preschools and schools to learn about the local ecosystem on site.

The project is run in collaboration between various municipal activities, the Källör Country Estate Association and the city's residents. By involving preschool children in the sowing of meadow seeds, children and their guardians are involved in the project. An important part of the project is also to develop a management plan to ensure long-term and continuous care to preserve the high biodiversity.
