Entrepreneurial couple Tord and Helene Olsson had a dream of swapping city life for a more rural existence. When they first visited Herresta Lada in Odensala in 2012, they knew they had come to the right place. Two months after moving in, the first Christmas market was held at Herresta Lada – with a shop, art exhibition and organic café. Since then, the business has been booming and they are now aiming to realise their next vision.

 Here, Tord tells more about the new future plans that gradually emerged during the Sustainable Entrepreneurship program.

She transformed the villa plot into her own permaculture farm

Bobrunna farm is a small farm in Vattholma where it is grown by hand. Here, Elin Boström has built a permaculture farm with vegetable growing, beekeeping, ducks and chickens. Her goal is to offer locally grown, non-toxic food that is produced in the most sustainable way possible.  

With a great interest in organic farming and access to a large tElin Boström jumped off the squirrel wheel to build a permaculture farm with vegetable cultivation. Through the Sustainable Entrepreneurship program, she took the step to further develop the farm, and now her goal is to offer education, knowledge and skills in small-scale farming using artisanal methods.

Organic soaps

Just outside Vänge in Uppland is Vänge Ekologiska Tvåleri, where organic natural soaps have been created since 2010. Only organic ingredients of fine quality are used, and the scents are completely natural. Some of the ingredients are picked directly from the company's own herb garden, such as marigold and lavender.

Here, Oumarou Kiemdes tells more about the craft and the journey to today running Vänge Ecological Soap Company on his own.

From throwing honey in the kitchen to own course activities

Our environment must survive, if we don't have nature left, we don't have the conditions for life, that's the motto of health-conscious beekeeper Johanna. Thanks to the Sustainable Entrepreneurship program, Johanna has now had the opportunity to develop her business from throwing honey in the kitchen to building her own premises for bottling and course activities.

Johanna Kylin at Aicha Vitalis is a creative multi-tasker. Her activities range from guided conversations, massage and body treatments, dance and creative creation to – beekeeping! For Johanna, it’s all about contributing to healthy lives for clients and fellow human beings.

Here Johanna tells more about her role as a bee farmer and how the Sustainable Entrepreneurship 2030 program has given her the opportunity to develop that part of the business.

From waste to sustainable resource

Every year, over a thousand tons of wool are imported to Sweden, while the country's sheep owners are forced to throw away a lot of wool. Sheep owner Fia Söderberg at Sjökärret in Almunge wanted to do something about the waste of resources and started Ullförmedlingen – a marketplace to make Swedish wool available.

Since 2019, Fia Söderberg has been running Ullförmedlingen, a digital marketplace for sellers and buyers of wool. Here, Fia tells us more about the business and how Sustainable Entrepreneurship 2030 has contributed to more sustainable business.

Think local!

A pitch to the newfound friend in the coffee room was the starting point for Kombobrew – a bubbling Kombucha brewery in Järlåsa. But what exactly is Kombucha and how does it relate to sustainable entrepreneurship? We have interviewed Thomas Radecky and Lukas Reza, the founders of Kombobrew, who tell us more about their future plans!

In Järlåsa, just outside Uppsala, lies the Kombobrew brewery where Thomas Radecky and Lukas Reza produce refreshing and refreshing Kombucha in different flavors. Kombucha is fermented tea with healthy properties, good for the intestinal flora, among other things, and made with only organic and natural ingredients.

Win-win with locally grown concept

Being able to produce good, nutritious food for a local market despite limited resources may sound like an impossibility. But for Fredrik and Maja in Sigtuna, it was an equation that absolutely had to be solved.

Since 2018, Maja DeBernardo and Fredrik Svensson have been running LokaltOdlat Sverige AB, and just as the company name suggests, the business idea is about locally produced products. The goal is for more small growers to join the concept that vegetables from LokaltOdlat should not be produced more than thirty kilometers away. Good for both the climate and for traders who can guarantee the quality and origin of the vegetables.
