The company Sydstrand Sandgren in Vällnora, Knivsta outside Uppsala was granted support because the project contributes to the promotion and learning about recycling through the recycling shop and summer café that will be started up in this project. From an economic sustainability perspective, this means that the business will have more legs to stand on and increase its sustainability. The company will also initiate a network initiative that has the potential to have positive economic effects even beyond its own company.
About the project
The company Sydstrand Sandgren through Ingela Sydstrand Sandgren will in this project develop Vällnora, outside Knutby, as an excursion destination by starting up a summer café and a building maintenance shop. The hope is that Vällnora will become an attractive excursion destination and that the company's finances will develop positively through the café and shop, which will also be a marketing tool for the upcoming consultancy services within building maintenance that will be developed through this project.
Sydstrand Sandgren wants more people to get help renovating and rebuilding old, beautiful houses that would otherwise be falling into disrepair, and the company wants to renovate ecologically and sustainably. Building conservation is about giving old buildings new life, using renewable and non-toxic materials and second-hand materials as much as possible. The summer café should be an oasis in the middle of the plantations that Sydstrand Sandgren has on site. In the plantations, priority is given to cultivated plants and plants that pollinators like. Birdhouses and insect hotels are also on site, and in the surrounding area there are many dead trees around the mills. There is also a small pond nearby where toads like to be.
The café and the Building Maintenance Shop will add value to the Vällnora Cultural Environment, for everyone who makes the mill tour past Vällnora. The company is also trying to start a network association with the aim of having a large exchange of learning and supporting each other with marketing and thus developing our business in the area.
Motivation of the Board:
The sub-project's activities are open to everyone with the summer café and the future building maintenance business. Through these activities, the company contributes to the promotion and learning about recycling. The business gets more legs to stand on and increases its sustainability. The network initiative has the potential to have positive economic effects even beyond the company itself.
