The second day of the Transition Forum was packed with activity – interesting lectures, practical assignments to help residents of Hågaby with various projects and lots of parallel workshops. Upplandsbygd held a workshop on how to create and apply for a project.
The seven participants were given a challenge: you get 100,000 SEK to do something for the public good in your locality, what will you do? It was fun to hear that all the participants had one or more concrete ideas. It was about finding a local solution for wastewater treatment, establishing community gardening, creating an educational display area for biodiversity in a nature reserve, starting a gadget pool and car pool, forming a common platform for harvesting fruit and vegetables in each other's gardens and a project to develop Hågaby as an eco-village. When the participants left, everyone had a first rough outline of the purpose, goals, activities and target group.
Most of the participants lived in our area or neighboring areas. Those who do not live or work in our area were given tips on finding their local leader association at leadersverige.se.
It also became clear what is special about the Leader method's way of working. Based on the participants' own ideas, Jenny at the office gave examples of how you can anchor your idea locally and find collaborations across sector boundaries. Sven talked about how we support project applicants to have a holistic approach to sustainability. Together we sketch out what transformation through locally led development can be about in practice.
