🌿 Österbybruk Fishing Association Wins the Challenge for a Sustainable Investment in a Nature Conservation Area 🌿
We at Upplandsbygd have recently announced an exciting challenge for investments in or adjacent to nature conservation areas, with a focus on promoting sustainable tourism. After many committed applications, we are pleased to announce that Österbybruk Fiskeri Förening has been selected as the winner.
Österbybruk Fishing Association says the following: ”"”Since our inception in the 1930s, our association's statutes have included the care and preservation of Stordammen and its surrounding environment, primarily with a focus on fishing. Today, we consist of around a hundred association members. Our goal with the investment is to maintain the water level of Stordammen and maintain the dam so that it does not grow back. We have noticed that interest is increasing greatly when it comes to activities on the lake during all seasons.”
The Winning Idea: Stordammens Preservation and Sustainable Tourism
Österbybruk Fiskeri Förening plans to maintain the water level of Stordammen by purchasing a reed and water lily cutting unit for an existing boat. This investment also enables the purchase of boats for rental, which is the first step in increasing the use of the dam and its tributaries for residents and visitors.
The association is also involved in nature and fisheries conservation by removing small trees near the shore and using them to make fish vases. These measures are carefully designed to preserve and enhance the ecological values of the ponds and strengthen the attractiveness of the area as a place to live and visit.
