Once again, things are happening in Skyttorp!
An exciting initiative is underway in the middle of the community to create a public, cooperatively run forest garden.
The forest garden project run by Elin Boström at Bobrunna Farm, is arranging a lecture series in Skyttorp on four occasions during the spring. It is part of a feasibility study and the aim is to create a public forest garden in Skyttorp. We at Upplandsbygd are proud to be able to support the project with funding.

In March it was time for the second lecture in the series and it was with Philipp Weiss. It was about what forest gardening is and how we can succeed with nut and fruit growing in our climate. Since 2011, Philipp and his family have been growing in Puttmyra Forest Garden outside Stjärnsund in southern Dalarna. There are over 200 species of trees, shrubs and climbing plants and around 150 species of herbs. In addition to working on his own farm, Philipp travels around and gives lectures, helps with forest gardening projects and writes books. A great inspiration!
Workshop in Skyttorp
On Sunday, March 24, there was an open meeting where the public in Skyttorp was invited to a workshop for the design of the Forest Garden. After a presentation of the project, everyone was allowed to discuss and fill in suggestions under the categories of knowledge & learning, play, biodiversity, plants & cultivation, concerns, social interaction, etc. Many good ideas were hatched, fortunately there was a good age spread as the participants were both adults and children. All participants were positive and contributed lots of good thoughts

On April 22nd, the speaker will David Jonstad to tell about why he left the squirrel wheel in the big city for life in the country and what this has taught him. The personal is also placed in a larger context in light of the major challenges facing the world. On April 25th, the speaker will Maryann from @marre_pa_asen who talks about the transformation from lawn to lush plantations in Oasen's four forest gardens. No pre-registration is required for this lecture.
Both lectures will take place at Klubbis Skyttorp at 7 p.m.
