Develop Eda Lägergård as a safe meeting place
In 2024, Eda Camp Association built a dock for launching canoes, making the swimming area at Eda Camp safer. The improved swimming area will allow a wider range of target groups to meet and feel safe at Eda Camp.
About the project
In recent years, Eda Campground Association has worked actively to reach out to a wider variety of visitors with different conditions and functional variations, and the association has investigated how more people can enjoy an active outdoor life in the nature surrounding the camp. The association saw that canoeing is an activity that is popular among many different target groups, but that efforts were needed to make the activity safe for everyone who wants to try it. By building a new pier adapted for loading and unloading canoes, this activity can now be carried out more safely and the entire bathing area at Eda will be safer as canoes are no longer loaded into the bathing area among bathing children.
During the 1950s, 60s and 70s there was a pier on the same site as the current pier, but due to lack of maintenance the old pier fell into disrepair. The stone coffin on which the old one stood has been used and reinforced, and the new pier has been rebuilt in the same style as the previous one, with its benches that enable meetings and conversations in a calm environment out on the water that is also accessible to those who use some form of assistive device.
