Project to support initial establishment and integration of newly arrived refugees in Östhammar Municipality

The project's ongoing and planned efforts range from practical support when the newcomers arrive in the municipality, activities to facilitate the adaptation of the newcomer families and to find the right contact paths in society, to the creation of a social enterprise, which will be able to provide employment for a number of newcomers and become an asset in the municipality.

The project's activities can be divided into four, interconnected areas of intervention:

• Practical assistance with the initial establishment of housing, etc., with the goal of facilitating for the newcomers to quickly settle in the new residential area and get started with education and preparations for entry into the labor market.

• Information about life in Sweden, counseling and assistance for male and female newcomers to manage contacts with Swedish society and create contact paths to the local business community.
• Special activities for children and youth, to strengthen the sense of belonging in their new environment and to create contact paths to the local association life.
• Preparations for the establishment and start of a social enterprise in the service sector, which can provide employment for newcomers and contribute to a positive development in the area.
