Cross-country ski trails on artificial snow in Sigtuna

The project intends to build a cross-country ski trail adjacent to the existing ski slope.

About the project

There is a great interest in skiing in the region and many of the region's residents are involved in cross-country skiing and participate in competitions such as Vasaloppet. However, the region lacks a cross-country ski trail that can be kept accessible with the help of artificial snow. Today, these cross-country enthusiasts commute either to Täby or Bålsta to be able to ski cross-country on artificial snow.

Many children and young people in the region do not have the opportunity to try skiing as the winters are often too mild to allow for the laying of trails and the schools are therefore unable to offer their students skiing. With both cross-country trails and a ski slope with artificial snow adjacent to each other, the opportunities for schools in the region to hold sports lessons and outdoor days locally increase.

For this, the club needs to invest in a track machine that is connected to the piste machine, upgrade the piste machine with new belts (which represents the largest investment), equipment in and around the cross-country ski track itself. The ambition is also to purchase a number of used ski equipment for children and young people so that we can lend both cross-country and alpine equipment to anyone who wants to try it.
