House in the countryside

The project was part of the umbrella project The Builders

To further revitalize the countryside and to create additional opportunities for young people in the municipality, the project wants to both inventory how many unused houses there are in the countryside and then see what can be done to make the houses "come back to life".

About the project

The project was part of the umbrella project The Builders

Östhammar Municipality is a large municipality in terms of area. Today, a third of the municipality's residents live in the countryside. There is therefore a viable and attractive countryside in Östhammar Municipality. At the same time, it is known that many, especially older properties, are unused. In order to further revitalize the countryside and to create additional opportunities for young people in the municipality, the project wants to both inventory how many unused houses there are in the countryside and then see what can be done to make the houses "come to life again".

The project will collaborate with associations, real estate agents, banks and local LRF to find houses in the countryside that are currently unused. If these can be identified, contacted by the owners and offered networks and help to "move on", then there are new opportunities for both people and companies to develop and realize their dreams.
