Gimo Rest Area

The project was part of the umbrella project The Builders

The project will transform the town's "stain" into a place to be proud of, to stop and have a coffee. Here, Knutmasso lives and watches over Gimo and calls for a sustainable traffic environment. The large statue will become a landmark that invites you to visit other parts of Gimo. The site is located next to the heavily trafficked county road 288. An ugly gathering place for scrap cars and other garbage. The idea is to build a beautiful rest area with all the facilities, something that is missing both along this road and in the entire municipality of Östhammar. To this is added the town's trademark, Knutmasso, with its 400-year tradition. A large, clear and friendly wooden sculpture made by a local artist. This Knutmasso will be provided with a sustainable message in visual form. The project is not yet complete, pictures of the result will come soon...
