Bird-friendly rural areas

By building and setting up birdhouses, Nils and Elton want to concretely contribute to strengthening the birds' opportunities to breed and live in the area. In total, they plan to set up 40 houses, as well as a few more that are adapted for particularly vulnerable species. The work is based on finding out which species are locally present and what they need, so that the houses can be placed where they are most beneficial.

An important part of the project is also to share knowledge with others. Therefore, they will also hold training sessions where participants can learn more about birds, their habitats, and how birdhouses can make a difference. In connection with this, participants will also be able to paint the houses, which creates involvement and a concrete connection to nature.

The project is carried out in collaboration with, among others, Knivsta Nature School, which contributes knowledge, materials, and networks. Through collaborations with local organizations, opportunities are created to reach out to more people and build engagement in different groups.

In the long term, Nils and Elton hope that the project will inspire more people to set up their own birdhouses and contribute to nature in their vicinity, and the houses that are set up will continue to provide protection for birds for a long time to come.
