Alternative food networks in Uppland
The project is about investing in a study regarding a potential alternative food distribution network in Uppsala and the surrounding countryside. It will build on and develop the networks established by Bramaten ek för and Bramaten Community (non-profit organization) in 2017 as a student project connecting farmers with consumers from the city on a periodic and per order basis.
About the project
Bramaten is a community project that goes beyond just providing consumers with organic, local food. This project also takes into account economic and social aspects by supporting small producers and small-scale farms and raising awareness about the importance of the countryside, which not only helps to establish sustainable food systems but also sustainable municipalities and regions.
In addition to creating jobs as the demand for sustainable local products increases and this leads to the increase and development of new food cooperatives, this creates a stronger relationship between the countryside and the city, namely a stronger relationship between small producers and consumers.
