Food preparation at Herresta Lada

A little look back at what we did at Herresta Lada in Sigtuna on May 8th when we talked about food preparedness with a focus on Sigtuna municipality.

In the middle of summer, here's a little look back at what we did at Herresta Lada in Sigtuna on May 8th:

The theme for the day was food security with a focus on Sigtuna municipality.

We started the day with Jenny Johansson from the Swedish Food Agency who outlined the main features of food security nationally and what is in store for municipalities. We then heard from some of the key people in Sigtuna; Kristian Svensson at Österby farm, Jonny Salviander, head of meal service at Sigtuna municipality and Carl Mannfors at Crisis preparedness and civil defense at Sigtuna municipality. Then we worked in groups and identified important areas to start working on in Sigtuna.

Helena Nordström-Källström from https://www.uppsalamatrad.org/ then told about their activities and Jonny Salviander briefly talked about Södertälje Municipality's work with local food.

Finally, politicians from four different parties in Sigtuna spoke about what they took away from the day and how politics can support this work in the future.

Of course, there was then a local organic lunch from Johanna and food.

Thank you very much for your time and see you on September 24th! Register here: Food preparedness in Sigtuna - Preparedness Week

This is what Sigtuna Municipality wrote after the meeting:

”Food preparedness is a team effort!
Yesterday's workshop at Herresta Lada highlights the important roles of producers, Sigtuna Municipality, Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling and other actors. By combining our strengths, we can create a robust and sustainable food system for the municipality.”
