Fröodlingskonferens för grönsaksodlare

On November 4th in Sigtuna, we are organizing a conference on seed production for commercial vegetable producers in Uppland.

Local Seeds = Preparedness!

Are you a commercial vegetable producer in Uppland? Do you want to learn more about seed production and meet other engaged individuals? Join us for a full day of practical knowledge, inspiration, and experience exchange!

Sweden's vegetable production relies on imported seeds. Together with hybrids and reduced diversity, this highlights an important vulnerability in food production. With this conference, we aim to encourage more commercial vegetable producers in Uppland to grow their own seeds. We want to provide practical knowledge, but also the opportunity to become part of a network and exchange experiences with other growers. Participants will learn more about both how to grow seeds and how to harvest and clean seeds.

The program includes, among other things, a lecture by Matti Leino, experience exchanges, and discussions about opportunities for collaboration. Ann-Helen Meyer von Bremen will be the moderator.

When? Wednesday, November 4, 9 AM–6:30 PM

Where? Sigtuna Folk High School, Manfred Björkquist's Alley 20, Sigtuna

Registration: Please register by October 13 in the registration form below.

Trip: Please travel collectively to the bus stop Sigtuna folkhögskola (see UL.se or SL.se). Indicate if you want to carpool in the registration form. Free parking is available at the folkhögskola.

Preliminary program:

  • From 9:00 AM: coffee and mingling
  • 9:30 AM: Introduction and welcome – context and icebreakers with moderator Ann-Helen Meyer von Bremen and My Sellberg at Upplandsbygd
  • 10:15 AM: Stretch break
  • 10:20 AM: Lecture and Q&A with Matti Leino
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch
  • 1:00 PM: Presentations from seed growers – Lisa Emanuelsson, et al.
  • 2:30 PM: Coffee break
  • 3:00 PM: Experience exchange in groups: how can we collaborate?
  • 4:30 PM: Harvest in the whole group, conclusion and formulate concrete next steps
  • 5:00 PM: Mingling
  • 5:30–6:30 PM: Joint dinner

The conference is part of Upplandsbygd's project We Planet Caretakers.

The conference is free of charge, but a fee of 500 SEK may be charged for late cancellation without valid reason.
