Linda provided perspectives on no-clearance forestry and the management of productive trees from a conservation, production (both food and timber) and sustainability perspective. A particularly instructive part was the comparison between no-clearance forestry and clear-cutting, where we gained a deeper understanding of how no-clearance can create more stable and resilient forest ecosystems. She also provided valuable insights into what to consider when establishing a forest garden or practicing no-clearance forestry – for example, tree species characteristics, soil conditions, natural regeneration and the impact of climate.
The lecture was held at the City Library in Uppsala and was a joint event with Skyttorp Forest Garden, Communities For Climate, Uppsala County Nature Conservation Society, City Library and Study Promotion. About 40 participants came and listened, had coffee and discussed afterwards. Many thanks to Linda, all co-organizers and participants!
